THE TORONTO EAGLES have celebrated the OAFL's 1000th game in style, annihilated the High Park Demons with a 131 point hiding.

After the brief 1000th game festivities, the Eagles came out firing from the get go. Smooth ball movement, hard tackling and accurate kicking in front of goal had the Eagles four goals in front after the first and it was looking ominous for High Park.

The second quarter however was a much more lacksidasical affair, with poor play hindering many of the Eagles thrust into the forward line. Lack of talk and rushed kicks into the attacking fifty made the second quarter ugly for spectators. While neither team really took control, the Eagles kick three against what would be the the Demons final goal for the game.

After some discussion and restructuring the Eagles came out in the second half firing, just as they did in the first quarter, kicking 8.2 to 0.2. The Demons had no answer for the onslaught on the field and seemed to buckle under the pressure.

Eagle Bill Kantartzis had an excellent third quarter, presenting well in the half forward position. "This was probably my best game this season, I dropped a few easy marks early but as the game went on I composed my self and finished well."

The final quarter saw the Eagles continue with their relentless attacking football. Centres Bernstein, Marsh, Capoferri and Minaker worked tirelessly to win possession out of the middle and set up their forwards.

Coach Aaron Falcioni was pleased with the team’s result “I was happy with how the boys came out today and made a massive statement and except for the lapse in the second quarter, I'm pleased with the game”

Troy Marsh again was a standout, continuing with his season best form and playing some exceptional football around the ground. New comer Patrick Gibbs had a great first match for his new side, contesting well around the ground and working hard for the ball.

As the score represents the Eagles defence was rarely tested and for the goal kickers, Aaron Falcioni had a day out thanks to some excellent supply from the midfield, finishing with 9 goals for the day and moving himself up the OAFL goal kickers table.

Next week the Toronto Eagles face the Etobicoke Kangaroos on Friday night, in what should be an excellent game of football. These two sides always have classic matches when they meet so come down and support your team.
