THE TORONTO EAGLES have continued with their impressive form this weekend, annihilating the Toronto Rebels by 116.

For four quarters the Eagles dominated the Rebels around the ground, with some sizzling phases of play. From the first bounce it was all one way traffic, with the Eagles having the opportunity to blood newer talent by the end of the game.

“What a great game of footy, even though the score see's it as one sided” stated Eagles coach Aaron Falcioni. “But we were able to string together some excellent phases of footy, as well as give some of our newer guys a good run.”

The Rebels have had a shocker of a year, with only two wins for the season. And this game was more of the same, with the Rebels unable to get any momentum at all throughout the match.

The first quarter saw the Eagles jump out of the blocks, shocking the Rebels from the first siren. The Eagles were running hard around the ground and finished with seven goals, while keeping the Rebels scoreless.

"That first quarter was a solid one from the boys” stated Eagle Troy Marsh. "We had total control all around the ground which the Rebels had no answer for, it was a good team effort."

The second saw more of the same, with the Eagles dominating the midfield and ruck tap. The Rebels were able to get on the score board with two goals for the quarter, but at the expense of six from the Eagles.

After the half time break it came to the attention of the club, that the time keeper had made a mistake. Apparently the first two quarters were timed at thirty minutes a piece. After the the coaches conversed, it was agreed that the final two quarters be played at fifteen minutes each.

Errors aside, the Eagles came out just as hard in the third with some great ball movement around the ground. If it hadn't been for the reduce time, the Eagles could have added more to their lead but were satisfied with another three goals for the term.

The final quarter saw the Eagles once again play some amazing football, especially the newer players. The Eagles were able to once again keep the Rebels scoreless for the term, while kicking four more goals and finishing with twenty goals.

"Even though we totally dominated the match, we still managed to get use out of the game" stated ruckman Ajit Alister. "All of our new players had an opportunity to get some valuable experience today, which is fantastic."

Troy Marsh solidified his place as front runner for the league best and fairest this weekend, with a spectacular display of football.

Marsh dominated play around the field with 34 quality possessions and with 6 goals, added to his impressive goal tally bringing him to 40 for the season.

This has been one of ‘Marshy’ best seasons in the OAFL and his form is certainly set to continue into the finals.

Frank Lussier had a fantastic game as well. Lussier played some impressive football around the ground and with a stint as full forward, kick a handy four goals.

Next weekend, the Toronto Eagles will once again battle the Hamilton Wildcats, in the final game for season 2009. Make sure you head to Humber North to cheer the your Eagles on.
